Abstract

Disclosed are improved devices, systems and methods of delivering oxygen and/or other therapeutic substances to a living organism, such as a mammal and/or human patient, by delivering and/or circulating microbubble carriers within existing anatomical passages of the organism that are accessible via external body orifices, such as portions of the organism’s digestive and/or excretory tracts.

Claim(s)

claim 1: 1. A method of oxygenating the blood of an individual, comprising contacting a portion of an internal digestive tract of the individual with an aqueous formulation comprising microbubbles containing oxygen.;
claim 2: 16. A method of delivering a gas to the blood of an individual, comprising contacting a portion of an internal digestive tract of the individual with an aqueous formulation comprising microbubbles containing a gas.;
claim 3: 19. A method of oxygenating the gastrointestinal tract of an individual, comprising contacting a portion of an internal digestive tract of the individual with an aqueous formulation comprising microbubbles containing oxygen.;
claim 4: 23. A method of delivering a gas to the gastrointestinal tract of an individual, comprising contacting a portion of an internal digestive tract of the individual with an aqueous formulation comprising microbubbles containing a gas.;
claim 5: 27. A method of delivering an anesthetic gas to the gastrointestinal tract of an individual, comprising contacting a portion of an internal digestive tract of the individual with an aqueous formulation comprising microbubbles containing an anesthetic gas.;
claim 6: 31. A beverage composition comprising water and at least 20% by volume of molecular oxygen, a majority of the molecular oxygen being encapsulated within substantially-spherical gas-filled particles between 1 um to 1000 um in diameter in solution that are stabilized by an organic coating at a gas-liquid interface.;
claim 7: 38. A method of altering the pH of the blood of an individual, comprising contacting a portion of an internal digestive tract of the individual with an aqueous formulation comprising microbubbles wherein at least a portion of a Carbon Dioxide within the blood is absorbed by the microbubbles.
